Las Ketchup and a disastrous concert in Finland

The girl group returned from their long hiatus

Spain’s Eurovision 2006 representative Las Ketchup performed last weekend in Finland, at the Karjurock-festival. The 22-minute gig turned out to be disastrous – in more than one way.
Las Ketchup had one of the biggest hits in the world in the summer of 2003. “The Ketchup Song (Aserejé)” was a number-one hit in 26 countries, including United Kingdom, Australia and Finland. Three years later the girl group represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song “Un Blodymary”. They finished only 21st out of 24 and the group went on a long hiatus.

However this summer, for some reason, the group was invited to perform at a rock festival in Finland. Waldo’s People, Finland’s Eurovision 2009 representative, also performed on the festival.
Last Saturday Las Ketchup took the stage at Karjurock and opened the concert by shouting “Que tal Helsinki!”. Despite the festival taking place over 200 kilometres west from the capital of Finland. Throughout the rest of the performance the sisters only spoke in Spanish.
After two songs, Las Ketchup performed their biggest hit “The Ketchup Song”, making the audience dance along to the iconic choreography. After 20 minutes, there was a time for the encore – which was obviously “The Ketchup Song” once more.

According to Finnish tabloid Ilta-Sanomat, the group performed for 22 minutes only, after being late for almost two hours.
In the interview with the tabloid, the sisters told they performed in Sweden at the same day and currently they are touring the Northern Europe. They are also recording a comeback album. Sweden seems to love the trio, as they were also invited to perform at Melodifestivalen in 2016.
