🇳🇴 NRK reveals highest viewing figures for Melodi Grand Prix since 2017

Saturday’s Final of Melodi Grand Prix 2021 saw the highest viewing figures for the selection since 2017.

Bringing “people joy in a heavy and dark time”

A total of 1.1 million viewers watched the show last weekend. 1,082,000 people tuned in via NRK1, while a further 28,000 watched online. Overall, this brought the show a market share of 67.1%.

These figures mean that the viewing rate is the best Melodi Grand Prix has had since 2017. In addition, there were around 160,000 more viewers watching this year compared to 2020’s Final.

Stig Karlsen, the Head of Delegation for Norway, commented on these impressive stats:

“It’s awesome. It shows that this is a party people needed. In a somewhat heavy and tender time, this is a music festival that gathers people.

We are the big Norwegian music show that brings the whole country together. This year’s Melodi Grand Prix has been the most important ever and has given people joy in a heavy and dark time.”
