Ukrainian super star Ani Lorak, most famous for finishing Runner-Up in Eurovision 2008 has become the new mentor in The Voice Russia (Голос). Which is returning for it’s seventh season.
No stranger in hiring Eurovision stars.
The Voice Russia (Голос) is certainly no stranger in hiring Russian Eurovision stars for it’s judging panels. Whether it was Dima Bilan (Winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2008) and Polina Gagarina (Runner-Up of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015). Polina famously mentored the Latvian representative from 2015; Aminata.
She is no stranger to The Voice format. She was a mentor on The Voice Ukraine in 2014 alongside Sergey Lazarev (Third Place of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 for Russia).
Ani joined by Eurovision alum.
She is joined on the panel by Ukrainian-Georgian songwriter Konstantinos Meladze who wrote and produced “Mamo” the Russian home entry in 2009 held in Moscow sung by Ukrainian singer Anastasia Prikhodko that came Eleventh with 91 points.
Ani Lorak at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Perhaps the biggest feat Ani Lorak is most famous for is her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008. Representing Ukraine in Belgrade, Serbia. Lorak sang the song “Shady Lady”. The song was composed by Russian-Armenian Karen Kavaleryan, Russian Philipp Kirkorov and Greek Dimitris Kontopoulos. She famously performed in front and on top of a light box wearing a Roberto Cavalli, Swarovski Crystal dress.
Lorak won her Semi-Final with 152 points. Due to this she qualified for the Final. In the Final she was the Runner-Up to Dima Bilan with 230 points similarly the year before where Verka Seduchka was the Runner-Up for Ukraine in 2007 with the song “Dancing Lasha Tumbai”.
