Junior Eurovision week is here again, and it’s time to reveal our Top 10! The team here at ESCXTRA have scored all 16 of the 2023 Junior Eurovision Song Contest entries and we’ll be counting down our top 10 along with a selection of reviews. Has your favourite made the top spot? Let’s find out!
Last year we revealed our top 10 of the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, crowning 🇬🇧 Freya Skye with the song “Lose My Head” as our winner. Our previous winners have been:

05 – 🇫🇷 France: Zoé Clauzure “Cœur”

One of the things I love about Junior Eurovision is the potential to scout out future superstars who could do well in the main Eurovision Song Contest and beyond – Zoé is my pick from this year! This entry has an immediate wow factor, combining a catchy melody that’s sure to bring in public votes with a sound that juries will love too. Potential win for the hosts this year? I think so!
04 – 🇬🇧 United Kingdom: STAND UNIQU3 “Back To Life”

Of course I am patriotic for our entry, but it is mainly because both our entries since returning to JESC would be great in Eurovision too. I think we have found our niche here, in sending acts on the edge of the age limit that already have music craft. I know the girls are at a disadvantage because Armenia exists, but I have seen STAND UNIQU3’s performance on Children On Need and they had charisma and choreography that looked in sync together. I don’t expect them to win, but the BBC can be pleased with another good result if everything goes well. Very televote friendly.
03 – 🇪🇸 Spain Sandra Valero “Loviu”

What I love so much about Spain’s entry this year is how perfectly it represents everything about this contest. It’s a really catchy song that isn’t “too adult” for the junior audience, whilst also sounding great and being really uplifting. Also, Sandra is an absolute star! I can’t wait to see this open the show, I really hope Spain get one of their best results this year!

This is one of my favourites this year! It’s catchy, fun, and still really well put-together to make a polished performance. It makes you want to dance and have a good time! It wouldn’t surprise me if this does extremely well this year.
02 – 🇳🇱 Netherlands: Sep & Jasmijn Holding On to You

How has it taken Junior Eurovision for The Netherlands to FINALLY bring us an EDM banger?! Amsterdam has the EDM Museum, (I have been to it!), The Netherlands have exported some of the biggest DJs of all time and it has always bothered me that they don’t give us that in either contest. So of course, I immediately latched onto this as one of my favourites!
01 – 🇦🇲 Armenia: Yan Girls “Do It My Way”

Yan Girls… more like Yes Girls! Eastern Europe music has started to ditch Deep House and bring in K-Pop fusion. So it is great to see an entry that could easily be in the charts on that side of Europe and in Asia. They even give a nod to Blackpink with the “in your area” lyric! Speaking of lyrics, it is great to see past winner, Malena involved in this. I love the intensity of this from start to finish and hope Armenia gets another win.

While listening to all the songs, Armenia was last in the playlist, but I was so amazed by their entry! I knew Armenia are great at JESC, but this was still a nice surprise. What I really like about this song is that it sounds polished and professional, but it still fits the JESC vibe and could appeal to both an older and younger audience. I also love the girls’ energy, they clearly enjoy performing the song!
