Charlotte Perrelli talks nerves ahead of Så mycket bättre participation

After winning the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with Take Me To Your Heaven, Charlotte Perrelli went on to be a fan favourite in 2008 with her second Eurovision entry, Hero. This time, she only came 18th. Now, Charlotte is taking on her latest challenge, taking part in the Swedish reality show, Så mycket bättre.

So Much Better

Så mycket bättre translates to English as So Much Better, and the show features a group of Swedish superstars covering each other’s songs over eight days whilst locked in a hotel together in Gotland.

This year’s line-up is made up of seven stars. Along with Charlotte Perrelli, Christer Sjögren who came ninth in Melodifestivalen 2008 will take part, as well as Louise Hoffsten who came fifth in Melodifestivalen 2013.

The remaining four participants are Eric Gadd, Linnea Henriksson, Albin Lee Meldau and Stor.

“It feels scary.”

In an interview with Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet, Charlotte has revealed her worries about taking part in the show:

Recording the show feels scary. It’s like Big Brother. I’ll be locked in!

There’s new people…you’re exposed to pressure and now it is about delivering.

However, the star believes that God is on her side to keep her strong throughout the eight days of the show. The experience will be made only even more special by the fact that only days before filming, she discovered that she was pregnant with her fourth child!

Charlotte has kept the news hidden for as long as she could – in previous interviews, she has revealed that she has miscarried numerous times, so they wanted to be extra certain before making a public announcement.

We thought this time it would be a good idea to wait for a long time. With my track record, you never know. Will it work? Will it hold or end up in a situation where there is nothing?”

We at ESCXTRA wish Charlotte the best of luck both with her pregnancy and her Så mycket bättre participation!

What do you think about this? Are you looking forward to seeing Charlotte appear in Så mycket bättre? Would you like to see her return to Eurovision once more?

I've watched Eurovision for as long as I can remember, but my interest really built in 2008, after I decided to watch the semifinals online, out of boredom, before the final...I was blown away by the quality of the show and have been hooked ever since! I'm a competitive trampolinist and I love baking. I've also just completed a master's degree in Research Methods in Psychology at University College London.
