Dates for Melodifestivalen 2019 confirmed!!

Dates for Sweden’s national selection has been confirmed for the 2019 season. Veteran cities such as Malmö and Gothenburg will be making a return, with the Final taking place in Stockholm.  Tickets for the shows and the rehearsals will be released on October 31.

The cities and dates for Melodifestivalen 2019 are as follows:

  • Gothenburg (Scandinavium) – Semi Final 1 – February 2
  • Malmö (Malmö Arena) – Semi Final 2 – February 9
  • Leksand (Tegera Arena) – Semi Final 3 – February 16
  • Lidköping (Sparbanken) – Semi Final 4 – February 23
  • Nyköping (Nyköpings Arenor Rosvalla) – Second Chance – March 2
  • Stockholm (Friends Arena) – Final – March 9

Second Chance to take place in Nyköping with Lidköping hosting Melodifestivalen for a second time.

In a press release, Anette Helenius (Project Manager for Melodifestivalen) has talked about Melodifestivalen 2019!

“We hope to invite you to a lovely party not only for dear reunions like Leksand, Lidköping and Nyköping, but also for the veterans Göteborg, Malmö and Stockholm.”

“We are always looking forward to meeting our viewers in venues outside the country and these host cities and audiences have also received us with open arms in previous years,”

Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018

Benjamin Ingrosso was selected to represent Sweden in Lisbon through Melodifestivalen. He won the ticket to Lisbon with his song “Dance You Off“. He competed in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2018, where he managed to bring Sweden to the Grand Final once again.

At the end of the competition, Benjamin managed to give Sweden it’s fifth consecutive top ten placing by finishing seventh overall in the competition. He finished 2nd with the Jury and 23rd with the Public Televote.
