Eleni Foureira advises Mimi Doblas on ‘Tu Cara Me Suena’ ahead of Fuego cover

The 7th season of Tu Cara Me Suena is about to start with a bang – or should that be Fuego! Mimi Doblas of Lola Indigo and OT 2017 will perform Eleni Foureira’s Eurovision hit.

Mimi Doblas meets Eleni Foureira

Better known to English audiences as Your Face Sounds Familiar, the upcoming 7th season of the Spanish version sees more celebrities cover songs by their favourite artists. There are some interesting surprises in store for the newest run! Firstly Mimi Doblas will be taking to the stage and covering one of Eurovision’s newest mega stars Eleni Foureira. She will be taking on Fuego, the song which finished in second place for Cyprus in Lisbon. During rehearsals for the show Eleni surprised Mimi on the set and helped her prepare for the performance.

Many will remember Mimi Doblas who had an unfortunate early exit in the 2017 edition of Operación Triunfo. However this has not dulled her ambition as she is now part of the successful troop ‘Lola Indigo’. Together with Mimi’s vocals and dance background, she and the other dancers have taken over the Spanish summer. With their distinctive trap-funk sound to bring a modern flavour to Spanish flamenco beats, Ya No Quiero Ná now stands at nearly 30 million views on YouTube. Proving that you don’t need to win the main prize to become a success, Eleni Foureira can relate!

Another Eurovision star features

Also appearing on the new season of Tu Cara Me Suena is former Spanish Eurovision entrant Soraya Arnelas. Coming to fame in the 2005 edition of Operación Triunfo, Soraya has over a decade in the music business, with numerous top selling albums. She has also made several guest appearances on Tu Cara Me Suena in previous years. Most famously last year with her Kate Bush cover. Although this is her first time as an official contestant. Back in 2009 she represented Spain in Moscow with the Latino banger La noche es para mí. For reasons still unknown it could only manage 23rd place with 23 points.

My first Eurovision memory was watching 1994 as a hatchling. I've been tapping my talons to the bops and bangers from Europe and beyond ever since! I finally spread my wings to attending the contest in Lisbon 2018 and am now a regular at many events and national finals - especially my regular nest at Eesti Laul.
