Yesterday’s announcement that the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest would be hosted in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv has become headline news in various media outlets across Europe. In response, British newspaper The Daily Express reached out to this year’s Finnish Eurovision representative Saara Aalto to find out just what Saara thinks it could take for the UK to be next year’s winning nation.
A UK supergroup?
After supporting Steps on tour over the summer, The X Factor UK runner-up Saara believes that the pop group could be the answer to the UK’s Eurovision woes… and that she’d love to join them to make a supergroup for the UK!
“I was touring with Steps in June in the UK on their Stadium Tour and it was so great. I know people really want them to do Eurovision for the UK – I’m like, ‘hmm, maybe I should join them!’”

“I love Faye [Tozer] doing Strictly Come Dancing, she’s so lovely, and I really want to work with them
Saara Aalto. So maybe we should do Eurovision for the UK. I would love that.”
“I would love to do it again”
It isn’t just Saara that believes Steps are the perfect act for the United Kingdom at Eurovision. Earlier this summer, fellow Summer of Steps support act Blue made the same claim!
Whether alongside Steps or not, Saara also revealed that she would love to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest again after getting everything she wanted out of this year’s experience in Lisbon.
“I definitely got what I wanted
Saara Aalto. I loved my performance, I did it with Brian Friedman – who I worked with on X Factor. I loved the whole event. I would love to do it again.”
