Debuting nation, Wales, will begin airing their selection process to select their artist for this year’s Junior Eurovision this Tuesday (18th September) on S4C!
Chwilio am Seren will air for the next four weeks!
Beginning this Tuesday (18th September), the Welsh selection will be aired over four weeks, with the live final being held on Tuesday 9th October in Llandudno.
The selection process will begin with the audition stages from the three audition days in Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Llandudno. The mentors- Connie Fisher, Stifyn Parri and Tara Bethan – will then select the best 20 performers to move on the process. The best 20 will then work with the mentors before they decide upon the six best to progress onto the live final.
“We have the talent in Wales to win”
Tara Bethan, one of the mentors for the show, has shown her confidence in the young Welsh talents, saying that:
Without doubt, we have the talent in Wales to win the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. We are the Land of Song with many openings for performers from a very young age. The talent we’ve seen so far has been incredible. I don’t think we’ll have trouble finding talented stars – the only trouble, I think, will be to choose just one person or one band!
One of the other mentors, Stifyn Parri, has admitted though that they need a talented singer that can adapt to many performing environments:
We have to find someone who can sing on a world stage, not just in Llandudno!
Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018
Belarus’s capital Minsk will be the host of the 2018 edition of Junior Eurovision. This is the second time the event takes place in the city, that previously hosted it in 2010. A record-breaking 20 countries will participate in Minsk on November 25. Wales and Kazakhstan will both make a debut with Kazakhstan participating for the first time to any Eurovision related event. Furthermore, the contest will also feature three returning countries: France, that last participated in 2004, Azerbaijan that last participated in 2013 and Israel that last participated in 2016.
Unfortunately, Cyprus instead confirmed its withdrawal from the competition.
Are you looking forward to watching Wales in Minsk? Will you be following their national selection?
