Attention!

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Shangela lip-syncs to “Toy”!

The Eurovision fever is hitting the drag community now! American drag queen Shangela Laquifa Wadley recently added Netta’s “Toy” as part of her performances.

Shangela is not your toy!

Shangela is widely known to the community for competing on 3 separate seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She is a big favorite among the fans and also one of the most successful drag queens from the competition. Besides competing on Drag Race, Shangela has made cameos on several TV shows including 2 Broke Girls, Glee and The X-Files.

A clip on YouTube shows the Drag Race star performing during the Werq The World Tour in Stockholm. Amongst other songs, she lip-syncs to Netta’s “Toy”. The worldwide tour includes several other contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

However, this wasn’t the only time the entertainer chose to perform the song during the tour. Reportedly, she was also seen lip-syncing to the Eurovision winner during a show in Texas, meaning that the drag queen is not performing the song only for her European gigs.

When it comes to Eurovision, this isn’t the first time Shangela has been involved with the competition. This year, she joined Ross Matthews as a commentator for Logo’s broadcast of the Eurovision 2018 final, replacing Michelle Visage.

Toy in the drag commnunity

Shangela wasn’t the only drag queen to lip-sync to the Eurovision winner. Drag Race alum Manila Luzon has also performed the song a few times, more recently during the PURE Pop Party in Tel Aviv along with Angelina Hairy Pot.

Additionally, Jaidynn Diore Fierce and Madame LaQueer also lip-synced to the song during their performance at Showgirls!, a weekly drag show in West Hollywood.

While this is not the first time a Eurovision song was performed by drag queens, it is remarkable that more and more drag queens chose to perform Toy for their audiences. Could we be seeing more drag queens perform Eurovision songs in their shows in the future? Or maybe even an inclusion in the competition itself?
