Gala 0 of the Spanish smash hit reality TV show-National Final hybrid Operación Triunfo occurred last week. We give you a round up of what happened!
Gala 0 started off in a nostalgic tone with the cast of Operación Triunfo: 2017 performing “Camina”. Watch the performance below.
Gala 0 saw performances from famous songs such as Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean”, Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman”, Bishop Brigg’s “River”, Stevie Wonder’s “Faith”. Even Jamelia’s “Superstar” was featured in the Gala 0’s performances. Watch the performances below in a handy playlist.
But like with all National Finals and Reality TV shows, we had to have an elimination. Unfortunately, this week we had to say goodbye to Rodrigo and Luis. This elimination therefore meant that they would be refused access to “The Academy” and subsequently be a part of the 16 who will be in the running to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, which will be occurring in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Also noteworthy about Gala 0 is the viewing figures. The show was watched by 2,321,000 people in contrast to 2,656,000 viewers who watched Gala 0 in 2017. However the audience share is up from 2017. 19% watched in 2017 compared to 20.5% this year.
So what to look forward to for Gala 1.
In Gala 1, the 16 singers will be paired up into eight duets so therefore there will be eight performances this week, in contrast to 18 in Gala 0. The performances are as follows.
- Joan Garrido and Julia – “Vuelvo a verte”
- Carlos Right and Miki – “El ataque de las chicas cocodrilo”
- Sabela and Alfonso – “Echame la Culpa”
- Damion and Africa – “Perfect”
- Dave and Marilla – “Alfonsina y el mar”
- Alba Reche and Noelia – “Respect”
- Marta and Maria – “Ella”
- Famous and Natalia – “Feel It Still”.
We will also be getting a special guest performance from last year’s Runner-Up and Gala Eurovision Runner-Up with “Arde” and Third-Place duet partner of Ana Guerra’s mega-hit “Lo Malo”, Aitana. She will be performing her follow up smash Number One hit “Telefono”.
Gala 1 will happen on Wednesday 26th September on 10:30pm CET, 9:30pm BST.
