Tel Aviv 2019

Montenegro will participate in Tel Aviv!

As countries continue to confirm participation in Tel Aviv, Montenegro’s broadcaster (RTCG) confirmed to fellow fansite ESCToday they will indded participate to Eurovision 2019.

11th participation at the contest

In 2019, it will be Montenegro’s 11th participation at Eurovision having debuted in 2007 and missing out in 2010 and 2011. Although confirmation is in, RTCG has yet to reveal how they will select their representative. In the past, they used both internal selection and national finals, most recently in 2018. Whoever gets picked will hope to end the country’s 3-year non-qualification and give Montenegro their third final.

Eurovision Song Contest 2019

The 2019 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place on 14, 16 and 18 May in Tel Aviv, Israel.  This follows Israel’s Netta Barzilai’s victory with her catchy entry “Toy“. So far, 37 countries have either confirmed participation or intent to participate. As we previously reported, countries will have until sometime in October to confirm their participation in Tel Aviv.

Montenegro in the Eurovision Song Contest

Montenegro first participated at Eurovision back in 2007 with Stevan Faddy and his entry “Ajde kroči“. Unfortunately he failed to qualify for the final, finishing 22nd with 33 points in the semi. So far, Montenegro appeared at Eurovision 10 times but only made the final in two occasions, in 2014 and 2015. Their best result is Knez’s 13th place in Vienna with his song “Adio” written by Serbian superstar  and twice Eurovision entrant, Zeljko Joksimović. In 2018, Vanja Radovanović represented the country in Lisbon with his song “Inje“. Unfortinately, he didn’t manage to make the grand final ending the night in 16th place with 40 points.

Are you happy Montenegro will participate in Tel Aviv? Is there anyone you would like to represent them? What is your favourite Montenegrin entry at the contest?

Born in Italy, I have lived in 5 countries in 3 continents. I discovered Eurovision by accident in 2010 and became a superfan in 2013. I attended both Eurovision and Junior Eurovision events and covered several national finals on the ground and hope to continue doing so for a long time!
