Former X Factor judge Louis Walsh backs Brendan Murray for success after Irish Eurovision 2017 entrant wows judges in the Six Chair Challenge.
Brendan Murray tipped for success
During the 2017 contest held in Kyiv X Factor hopeful Brendan Murray was mentored by Irish music mogul Louis Walsh. The two had previous experience working together as Louis had also managed Brendan’s former band Hometown. Separating in 2016, the group topped the Irish charts with their first two singles and reached top 5 in the album charts with their self-titled album Hometown.
Now Louis has given his thoughts on Brendan’s potential in the competition and tips on how he can be the next X Factor winner. Believing that Brendan has what it takes Louis stated that:
Brendan has a really nice voice and he’s a really nice guy. He’s got an amazing voice.Louis Walsh
With 13 years of experience on The X Factor, the former judge also provided a reminder of the importance in choosing the right song.
Last week saw Louis Tomlinson begin the process of deciding which 6 of his boys category will progress to Judges Houses in the Six Chair Challenge. After a change of song, Brendan impressed the audience and the panel with his rendition of R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts. Earning a standing ovation from the panel and getting Louis Tomlinson’s Golden Buzzer. Thus whatever happens tomorrow night, Brendan has a guaranteed place in the Judges Houses phase.
Most people on these shows don’t sing the right songs. They always sing songs that are too big for them. Brendan has a very unique voice. That’s why I picked him for Eurovision.Louis Walsh
Louis Walsh and the Eurovision Song Contest
Many will know Louis Walsh from his time as a popular judge on shows such as Popstars and The X Factor. Before this however, Louis made his name behind the scenes as one of Ireland’s leading talent scouts. Managing some of the most successful bands in the music industry, such as Westlife, Boyzone and Girls Aloud.
Over the years many of Louis’ former clients have represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest. Of course the most notable is three time Eurovision winner Johnny Logan, who Louis managed during the 80s. Known as ‘Mr. Eurovision’ Johnny had two victories of his own, as well as penning Linda Martin’s winning song Why Me. Other names include twins Jedward, that following their own stint on The X Factor achieved two of Ireland’s best results this decade. More recently Nicky Byrne, former member of chart sensations Westlife, represented Ireland in 2016.
