Nicky Byrne reunites with his Westlife band mates and announces tour!

Nicky Byrne, who represented Ireland in Stockholm, Sweden with the song “Sunlight” has announced that he will reunite with his world famous band mates Westlife and will go on tour. New Music is also in the pipeline.

Who are Westlife?

Westlife were formed in 1998, by Louis Walsh. Weslife were made up of Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily, Brian McFadden and Shane Filan. Brian McFadden left the band in 2004 and has not been associated with the band since. Walsh is no stranger to Eurovision circles seeing as he has sat on the panels of various Late Late Show: Eurosong Specials, as well as being the former manager of Brendan Murray’s band; Hometown and Jedward.

Raising Up the charts.

Westlife scored 14 UK number one singles and seven number one albums during their career. They were known for hits including “Flying Without Wings”, “Fool Again”, “You Raise Me Up” and “Unbreakable”, with their final album, Gravity, being released in 2010. Arguably becoming one of the most successful musical acts in British and Irish chart history.

They announced their reunion in a video that you can watch below. The video features their famous iconic stools that became their signature, iconic props. This was due to the fact that they always started their songs sat on them, then standing up when the crescendo of the song came (usually from a key-change). This piece of choreography has subsequently been parodied in various British and Irish television shows.

The reunion coincides with 20th anniversary of the group. Louis Walsh will be managing them again, along with Sonny Takharm. The comeback single will be released next month and is rumoured to be written by Ed Sheeran. Before the full stadium and arena tour and album’s release in 2019

Nicky was internally selected in 2016 by Irish broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). He therefore sang the song “Sunlight”, that he co-wrote. In the Semi-Final, he performed the song in Stockholm; Sweden. He came in Fifteenth-Place with 46 points. Due to this however, he did not qualify for the Final.
