RTVE has announced that songwriters will be able to submit entries to the Spanish broadcaster between November 1 and November 15. In addition to the submissions, RTVE will also invite established authors to submit entries as well.
How the selection will work
A jury panel (made up of two people from the Eurovision fan associations OGAE and AEV, one person from RTVE Digital and two from the music industry) will choose ten songs from among all those received from the submissions.
At the same time, entries that were submitted through a direct invitation will also be shortlisted to ten songs by a jury panel consisting of two members of RTVE’s management, 1 of RTVE Digital and 2 professors of the OT Academy.
Once the twenty songs have been shortlisted, these will then be recorded by different participants of ‘Operación Triunfo’. The entries will then be published on RTVE.es for two weeks, where the public can choose their favorite.
Once the voting has concluded, the three entries that has the most votes, will have a guaranteed spot at the Eurovision Gala. A jury panel consisting of two members of the RTVE management, 1 of RTVE Digital and two professors of the OT Academy will select seven out of the seventeen remaining entries for the Eurovision Gala.
Public televote will select the Spanish entry
The Spanish public will have a say as to who will represent them in Tel Aviv next year.
According to RTVE, the act with the most votes will win the right to represent Spain. However, should there be a tie, a new round of voting will happen and the scoreboard will be set to 0.
