Brendan Murray through to The X Factor live shows

Brendan Murray, who represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, has been selected by Louis Tomlinson to go through to the live shows of The X Factor.

Emotional performance captures the judges’ attention

After an emotional performance of “Nothing Compares 2 U” by Sinéad O’Connor, originally written by Prince, Murray left guest judge Nile Rogers admitting he was in tears. Louis Tomlinson and his other guest judge, former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne were suitably impressed with Murray’s vocal control.

This year, the judges are selecting four acts to go through to the live shows in their category. Brendan Murray will be joined by Armstrong Martins, Dalton Andre Harris and Anthony Russell.

Murray’s reaction to being told he was through was pure elation and he phoned his family immediately to tell his mum – a very sweet moment.

The X Factor continues with the live show round every Saturday and Sunday this autumn on ITV.
