When France makes their return to the Junior Eurovision stage this year with Angelina and her song “Jamais sans toi”, the contest will be commented by no other than Madame Monsieur!
Three commentators
It appears France 2 – the French broadcaster – want to make their comeback to Junior Eurovision as triumphant as possible. After a 14 year long hiatus from the contest, they seem keen to make a splash with their highly anticipated return. While Madame Monsieur may not have much commentating experience, France 2 makes sure they’re in good hands.
Experienced commentator Stéphane Bern will guide viewers through the event alongside the duo. Without a doubt, French Eurovision fans will feel right at home. Stéphane Bern has been commentating Eurovision Song Contest since 2015. In addition, he hosts Secrets d’Histoire (Secrets of History), a popular TV show.
Whereas Stéphane Bern has experienced the contest first hand from the commentator’s booth, Madame Monsieur has experience from competing in Eurovision. Undoubtedly, this will allow them to give unique insight with their commentary. They were among the favorites in Lisbon this year, but ultimately finished in 13th place. Hopefully Angelina will fare better in Minsk!
France in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
France made an early debut in Junior Eurovision, all the way back in 2004. Thomas Pontier represented the country with the song “Si on voulait bien”. It finished in 6th place and received 78 points. However, France withdrew from the contest despite the great result, claiming there was no motivation to compete.
Nevertheless, they are now making their return. Angelina will compete in Minsk with the song “Jamais sans toi” – for which she released the official music video yesterday. In general, their return has been met with excitement from Junior Eurovision fans, and hopefully France will continue their participation in the contest – irregardless of the result!
