Did you hear? Eurovision tidbits, week 43

On this dark, cold (at least here in Oslo) October Synday night, I bring you all a collection of warm and fuzzy tidbits from across the Euroverse. From Australia to Iceland, from babies to Baby Spice, from Isaiah to Iveta; what more can you desire?!

ABBA vs Spice Girls in Iceland

The Eurovision ladies of Iceland are an immensely talented, and funny, bunch! This weekend a lovely bouquet of them shared the stage in Harpa concert hall in Reykjavík, when the ABBA Tribute show, that has been running since 2012, was on the program again. Backstage, they met the singers from another tribute concert that took place in Akureyri on Friday; Spice Girls. And of course they had to do a little “sing-off”. Who won, in your opinion; ABBA or Spice Girls?

Michael Schulte on The Voice Germany

Fabian Riaz, who recently got engaged to Jamie-Lee Kriewitz, performed this year’s German Eurovision entry, Michael Schulte’s “You Let Me Walk Alone” in his blind audition on The Voice Germany this week. After making all the judges push their buttons, he revealed that Michael himself was waiting backstage with his friends and family. The judges then called Michael to the stage, and the two performed an improvised duet version of the song. Jamie-Lee won the show back in 2015, and now her fiancé might repeat the feat. Has it ever happened before, that a couple have won The Voice in different years? Anywhere in the world? Not even owning a TV, I wouldn’t know…
