Chanel congratulated by Spanish royals

The Spanish contestant received congratulations from the Spanish Royal Househould after finishing third in Saturday’s Grand Final.

With her song SloMo, Chanel has offered Spain its highest ranking since Anabel Conde came second in 1995. She has won over millions of fans in Spain and throughout Europe, who awarded SloMo a staggering 459 points.

Or was it her stunning performance on stage? Either way, the video of her performance has reached 10,627,247 views on Youtube.

And it did not go unnoticed, even by the Royal Family! The King of Spain and his wife sent her a congratulatory letter, which goes like this in English:

From Their Majesties the Royals

Congratulations for your fantastic performance in Eurovision. You have made history for Spain in this music festival by reaching that third place after a tight final, in which you obtained the recognition of both the jury and the public.

We would also like to convey our congratulations to the team that accompanied you, and thank you for having represented Spain so well and for making us feel so proud.

With a big hug,

Felipe R. Letizia R.

This record comes after a streak of bad luck for Spain. The country scored 6 points last year and had only made it into the top 10 on 3 occasions in the last 10 years (6 times in the last 20 years!).

We already look forward to discovering Spain’s song next year. In the meantime, I am sure we will hear a lot of SloMo (and perhaps see its choreography) over the summer. (Re)watch for yourself…
