After confirming earlier on, that Georgia will be using ‘Georgia Idol’ to select the act & song that will be heading to Tel Aviv, the search for its act has begun as auditions has begun.

The auditions for Georgian Idol has begun, a few number of hopefuls auditioned for the show. Who knows, one of the auditionees below could be the hopeful heading to Tel Aviv next year.

Auditions for Georgia Idol has been taking place all around the country and have visited and will be visiting the following cities:
- October 30 – Telavi & Gurjaani
- October 31 – Akhmeta & Lagodekhi
- November 1 – Gori
- November 2 – Borjomi & Akhaltsikhe
- November 3 – Tbilisi
- November 4 – Tbilisi
- November 6 – Chiatura
- November 7 – Kutaisi
Georgia Idol will broadcast its first episode on January 1, 2019 on GBP TV.
Georgia in The Eurovision Song Contest
Georgia first participated at Eurovision back in 2007, finishing 12th and participated every year since, except in 2009. This year a controversy surrounding their song led to their withdrawal. Over the years, Georgia participated a total of 11 times, qualifying to the final on 7 occasions. They reached their best result, 9th place, in 2010 and 2011, with Sopho Nizharadze and Eldrine. In 2018, Georgia was represented by the Ethno-Jazz Band Iriao and the song “For You”. They finished 18th (last) in the second Semi-Final, with 24 points.
