Makeda

Makeda doesn’t want to just be home in one genre. She likes to listen to pop music, but her voice is at home in the soul genre. “I am German and English, black and white, loud and quiet at the same time”. We can’t wait to see what side of her will make it to the national final. Makeda has roots in Trinidad and was born in 1990 in Bonn. She realized that she wants to do music for a living when she performed for the first time in front of an audience at her prom. In 2017 she was among artists who got considered for the German national selection but she decided not to go that year. In 2018 she was taking part in the workshops for Lisbon with her band “Steal A Taxi”. Maybe 2019’s Unser Lied für Israel will be her lucky year.

When she was little, Makeda wanted to become an inventor. “In the past, I liked to put things together,” she says – but meanwhile she’s inventing new things and worlds with her songs. She named Alicia Keys as one of her biggest inspirations. “I looked at the TV and there was a woman who looked the same as me and played the piano, so I noticed I also play the piano and I sing too, so I was able to fully identify with it.” She has no talent show background and canceled seven talent shows this year alone. She was part of the musical “Bodyguard” for one and a half years. The songs she is working on now have a theme that as many listeners as possible know. Makeda wants to give them some comfort with their music. Make everyone happier.

Dominik Rössing

Hey, I'm Dominik from Germany. Watched my first Eurovision in 2003 and I was in love right away! Attended my first contest in 2011 and every contest since 2013. The same happened with Melodifestivalen. Started watching in 2006 and been to every final since 2017 and try to make it to at least one heat each year, too. After all, Melodifestivalen is the real deal ♥
