SVT to reveal Melodifestivalen entrants on November 27th

Swedish broadcaster SVT has revealed when we’ll find out who is going to take part in Melodifestivalen 2019. The date for the press conference has been set for Tuesday, November 27th.

Revealing their hopefuls

The Swedish broadcaster is used to making a big media event of their Melodifestivalen announcement. As is tradition, they’ll host a press conference to announce all 28 hopefuls. They announced the date on Twitter:

In the weeks leading up to the announcement, Aftonbladet have been trying to complete the list of entrants already. The newspaper reported numerous names that might be set to take part in the show. Most of the names mentioned so far are successful former entrants of the show, such as Alcazar’s Lina Hedlund, joik singer Jon Henrik Fjällgren and FO&O singer Oscar Enestad.

Other names on the list include Nano, Wiktoria, Jan Malmsjö and Anton Hagman, as well as former winners Arvingarna. The Lovers of Valdaro have been confirmed to take part as they won P4 Nästa’s talent hunt.

Four semis and four hosts

A few weeks ago, SVT already announced who would be hosting Melodifestivalen 2019. Two of the hosts are familiar faces to Eurovision fans. Eric Saade came third at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf with “Popular” and Sarah Dawn Finer was the interval act for the 2013 contest in Malmö. The singer has also been famous for her Lynda Woodruff character, although it’s not sure yet whether she will also return next year.

The other two hosts are Kodjo Akolor and Marika Carlsson. They are both comedians and TV personalities. SVT have mentioned that the four hosts will take turns in hosting the shows.

Melodifestivalen 2019 is set to have four semifinals. Göteborg, Malmö, Leksand and Linköping. The Andra Chansen round will then take place in Nyköping. As is now traditional, Friends Arena in Stockholm will host the final. That final will take place on March 9th.
