Minsk 2018

Day 1: On-screen graphics and a costume reveal for Macedonia’s Marija Spasovska – REVIEW

ESCXTRA are live from Minsk for day 1 of rehearsals ahead of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018!

Today’s schedule

The countries rehearsing today, in chronological order, are Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Israel, France, F.Y.R. Macedonia, Georgia, Ireland, Albania and Belarus.

Next up to rehearse is Marija Spasovska from F.Y.R. Macedonia. We have just watched the first run through of Doma live on screen and here is our initial overview.

Rehearsal review

Marija begins her performance on the B-stage dress in a black hooded cape that covers everything but her face. We see an on screen graphic overlay containing word screen such as “fear”. She’s under a spotlight and stands halfway into the first verse.

As we enter the second verse, Marija walks to the main stage, disposing of her black cape in the process. Now, we see her in a white dress with sequin detail. We then see a graphic overlay covering the screen in rain.

Once this disappears, the LEDs are displaying snow as well as a bridge with a couple in the centre. As we reach the end, the lighting turns red and Marija reveals a snowflake in her hand which stays alight whilst the rest of her and the stage descends into darkness for the final shot.

Watch the rehearsal!

Stay tuned for our review of Tamar Edilashvili’s rehearsal of Your Voice next for Georgia!

Ryan Cobb

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
