ESCXTRA are live from Minsk for day 1 of rehearsals ahead of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018!
Today’s schedule
The countries rehearsing today, in chronological order, are Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Israel, France, F.Y.R. Macedonia, Georgia, Ireland, Albania and Belarus.
Next up to rehearse is Efi Gjika from Albania. We have just watched the first run through of Barbie live on screen and here is our initial overview.
Rehearsal review
There’s one word to describe Efi’s uptempo rehearsal… PINK! The Albanian performer is dressed in a pink dress with black frills and a black embroidered heart.
The LED backdrop begins with a shooting star flying across the stage before transforming into pink. This remains the case for the majority of the performance, with the use of cartoon-style hearts, stars and a cartoon Barbie doll too!
Efi’s commands the stage alone, introducing some dance moves for that first chorus instrumental breakdown. While Efi dances the breakdown away, we get lots of camera shots of the audience.
As we enter the middle 8 breakdown part of the song, we switch to some frantic lighting changing between black, gold, purple and pink which looks very effective and gives the song a visual journey amongst the pink.
Watch the rehearsal!
Stay tuned for our review of Daniel Yastremski’s rehearsal of Time next for Belarus!
