47 acts advance to Six Chair Challenge in X Factor Malta

X Factor Malta has been going for a good couple of weeks. The audition and bootcamp phases are now over. All judges now have their own categories and the final 47 contestants will advance to the Six Chair Challenge.

Ira Losco: Boys

Two time Eurovision entrant Ira Losco has been given the boys’ category. Ira is down to just eleven of her boys. One of the most famous ones of these is Aidan Cassar. He tried to win Malta Eurovision Song Contest last year with “Dai Laga”, which finished in fourth. The full list of Ira Losco’s boys is below:

  • Matthew Anthony Caruana
  • Mark Anthony Bartolo
  • Luke Chappell
  • Claudio Zammit
  • Owen Leuellen
  • Isaac Mercieca
  • Miguel Bonello

Howard Keith Debono: Girls

Malta often decide to send a girl to the Eurovision Song Contest, so Howard Keith Debono may be the luckiest of the four judges. The music producer has been given the Girls’ category this year. Just like Ira, he also has a MESC veteran in his group with Danica Muscat. Just last year, she took part in Malta’s national final, but finished last. The full list of Howard Keith’s fourteen girls:

Ray Mercieca: Overs

In terms of Malta Eurovision Song Contest experience, Ray Mercieca doesn’t have anything to complain about. His list of overs includes many former MESC entrants, like Chris Grech, Franklin Calleja, Janice Mangion and Anna Azzopardi. Anna Faniello, the mother of both Fabrizio (Eurovision 2001 and 2006) and Claudia (Eurovision 2017) has also managed to make the cut.

  • Anna Azzopardi
  • Anna Faniello
  • Ben Purplle
  • Janice Mangion
  • Petra Zammit (Pe Tra)
  • Kimberley Cortis
  • Franklin Calleja
  • Laura Bruno
  • Vanessa Lee Sultana
  • Janice Debattista
  • Rachel Tedesco Triccas
  • Chris Grech

Alexandra Alden: Groups

The groups give us less familiar faces than the other three categories. Singer and songwriter Alexandra Alden has the honour to work with ten groups on the inaugural X Factor Malta. These ten are:

  • 4th Line
  • Xtreme
  • Horizon
  • Lorelai
  • Radiate
  • Sudden Crown
  • Prism
  • Systm 12

More next Sunday

X Factor Malta will continue next Sunday, 25th November. Bootcamp will continue with the Six Chair Challenge. After that stage of the competition, each judge will have six acts remaining.

The first ever final of X Factor Malta has been scheduled for 26th January. The winner of the show will go on to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv. Ben Camille will act as host for the shows, as he’s also done with Malta Eurovision Song Contest recently.
