A day before we will finally hear which acts are going to take part in Melodifestivalen, Aftonbladet are doing their utmost to complete the list. The next name they can reveal is “Bumpy Ride” singer Mohombi!
A world famous singer to Melodifestivalen
It seems Christer Björkman had his eyes set on getting a couple of big names to take part in the show. One of those is Mohombi. He is most famous for his 2010 single “Bumpy Ride”, which charted in fourteen countries and even scored a #1 hit in The Netherlands. The song went double platinum in Mohombi’s home country Sweden. Back in 2016, the Swedish-Congolese singer received a Grammy Award for Pitbull’s album Dale, where he was a featured artist on one of the songs.
Comeback after fourteen years
Perhaps surprisingly, this would not be Mohombi’s first ever Melodifestivalen adventure. For his first participation, we need to go back to 2005. Then 19 years old, Mohombi took part together with his brother as Group Avalon. The duo didn’t progress from the semifinal, after they finished in sixth with “Big Up“, a bilingual song in English and French.
The group split soon after Melodifestivalen and Mohombi went on to pursue a solo career. That career resulted in collaborations with not only Pitbull, but also Nicole Scherzinger and Arash.
No luck with Petra Marklund
Aftonbladet also gives us an update regarding some of the other rumoured names for Melodifestivalen 2019. We reported last night that Magnus Carlsson has explained why he will not be taking part next year. Thanks to Aftonbladet, we now learn that Magnus is working on an English language album, with SVT wanting him for a song in Swedish.
The other famous star Björkman was hoping for was Petra Marklund. She has reportedly however yet again turned down the opportunity to compete in Melodifestivalen. Two new names to add to the list of potential entrants are Linda Pira, a rapper and Malou Trasthe Prytz, who’s just fifteen years old. If Aftonbladet are right, we’re missing just five names for tomorrow’s list. You can find the names below:
