After their recent success in the competition, the Cypriot broadcaster is already trying to keep up the success in the upcoming contest. CyBC has dropped some hints regarding their next entry; what could they be hinting at?
First hint: On the Floor
The first hint posted by CyBC on their Facebook page was the major hit by Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull ‘On the Floor’. But the question is: “What does this amazing billboard hit by J.Lo gotta do with the 2019 ESC Cyprus entry?”
What could the broadcaster be hinting at with this song? What does their potential entry have to do with the hit song by Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull?
The answer could simply be that their entry is called ‘On the Floor’. But it could have a deeper connection than that. Perhaps, the songwriting team behind ‘On the Floor’ has also contributed to the next Cypriot entry? The team includes RedOne, known for his multiple productions for Lady Gaga, as well as other international music stars. Other songwriters include Pitbull, who is featured on the song, AJ Junior, Teddy Sky and Bilal ‘The Chef’.
Second hint: High on Life
CyBC proceeded to post a second hint 2 days ago, this time a song from Dutch DJ Martin Garrix. The song is ‘High on Life’ and it features vocals from Bonn. The caption added by the broadcaster reads: “Ready for the 2nd quiz? What about this song? What’s this one gotta do with the Cyprus 2019 ESC entry? #meetTeamCy”.
It is now clear with the hashtag ‘meetTeamCy’, that someone related to the song is part of the Cypriot team. But who could it be? Is it someone from the song’s production team? Apart from Martin Garrix himself, the song was composed by Kristoffer Fogelmark (aka Bonn), Dutch composer Giorgio Tuinfort and Swedish composer Albin Nedler. Could one of them be involved with the Cypriot entry? Or maybe is it possible that Cyprus has managed to get the worldwide famous DJ Martin Garrix to produce their entry?
Considering that the Greek-Georgian singer Tamta has been heavily rumoured to be the artist to represent the Mediterranean country, it’s worth mentioning that both Fogelmark and Nedler were involved in her 2015 song ‘Unloved’, along with ‘Fuego’ and ‘La La Love’ composer Alex P.
Will Tamta represent Cyprus?
Meanwhile, apart from the hints posted by CyBC, there are other rumours surrounding the 2019 Cypriot entry. As previously mentioned, it is possible that Tamta is the singer that will represent Cyprus in Tel Aviv. While the Greek-Georgian pop singer has confirmed her interest, she didn’t reveal whether she would represent Cyprus, Greece or even her home country, Georgia. However, she has confirmed that the Greek broadcaster didn’t make any proposal to the singer as of now.
Tamta has been rumoured several times the past few years. Moreover, she was supposed to be part of the Greek national selection back in 2015 with ‘Unloved’ but did not manage to make it in time.
What do you think about these hints made by CyBC? Do you have any theories regarding their connection to Cyprus’s entry? Do you think Tamta will be representing the country?
