🇧🇬 Victoria Georgieva releases “Ugly Cry” – A song for Eurovision?

Bulgaria releases the first of their potential 2021 entries

The 2020 and 2021 representative for the balkan nation of Bulgaria has released her latest single “Ugly Cry”. It’s also been revealed by the Bulgarian delegation on behalf of network BNT that it is a potential entry for Rotterdam in 2021.

The story so far

As it has previously been mentioned, Victoria was announced as the Bulgarian representative in 2020. Due to the Covid_19 pandemic however the contest was cancelled. Later this year, BNT announced that Victoria will be carried over to represent Bulgaria in 2021.

In order to select an entry Victoria has been a part of Black Sea Songwriting Camp, headed by Bulgarian songwriting superstar Borislav Milanov who’s written entries for Germany, Austria, Bulgaria and Malta including three top five finishes including a runner up placing with “Beautiful Mess” by Kristian Kostov.

The first cries of Eurovision 2021

According to regional reports “Ugly Cry” was written in London and was originally supposed to be a promotional song for Victoria in the run up to her eagerly anticipated Eurovision 2021 entry. But it seems that earlier reports were either inaccurate or the Bulgarian delegation at BNT have changed their plans. As you can see by this tweet from today (Friday 20th November). We as of yet don’t know how many songs have been written. We will keep you updated if we get more information.

As some of you may remember this approach of releasing entries and gauging public responce to them was a tactic used by the French delegation in 2016 and 2017 when they selected Amir and Alma respectively.
