Our #ESC250 votes – Part 2: Vincent, Riccardo & Sami

#7 – 🇺🇦 Ruslana- Wild Dances (Ukraine 2004)

I kid you not, I listened to this song so many times in the summer of 2017 to the point I booked myself a trip to Ukraine. Yes, I am that crazy. It was 2004’s rightful winner and one of the best winners ever, in my opinion. Ruslana owns the stage like few manage and she definitely makes me want to be a wild dancer.

#6 – 🇷🇸 Marija Serifovic – Molitva (Serbia 2007)

I have a soft spot for Balkan music. Quite a few other Balkan entries nearly made my top 10 (looking at everything Zeljko-related) and one just had to be there and of all. This has the edge. It’s difficult to find the right words to give this song the praise it deserves. Marija is a true artist and the performance didn’t need to be sophisticated to elevate the song as it is flawless, as Vincent said.

#5 – 🇳🇴 Mørland and Debrah Scarlett – A Monster Like Me  (Norway 2015)

I spent the last 2 years of high school in Norway and those are two of the best years of my life. This song, somehow, awoke so many memories of my time in Norway. I don’t know how and don’t know why, but it had that effect on me. I think I don’t get the effect the lyrics or Kjetil were hoping to, but nothing can take away the fact that this is a song that is so special to my heart. And just like Romania’s “Girl, girl, girl are you sure”, the “honey what am I to you?” has also become a phrase I randomly say to my friends. “A pony” remains my favourite come back to that random question 🙂
