Rotterdam 2021🇮🇹 Italy

🇮🇹 MÃ¥neskin release Eurovision version of “Zitti e buoni”

Thankfully, the edit is very subtle

Earlier this month, Måneskin won the 71st edition of Festival di Sanremo. Shortly after, they confirmed that they are going to Eurovision! Due to their song being over the 3-minute limit, however, they have had to release an edit for the contest. This has been seen from previous Sanremo winners, including Francesco Gabbani and Diodato.

The winners of Sanremo are always invited to Eurovision and will normally accept, but the decision is not automatic, Sanremo winners can and have refused in the past. Therefore, when the winner of Sanremo was announced, it wasn’t yet certain that Måneskin would represent Italy.

Fortunately for fans of Måneskin and their entry “Zitti e buoni”, they confirmed their participation in the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest. As such, they had to make an edit of the song in order for it to be eligible for the contest. This included trimming down the length slightly and removing some Italian curse words from the lyrics.

You can listen to the new version below:

About Måneskin

Måneskin is a 4-piece rock band hailing from Rome, consisting of vocalist Damiano David, bassist Victoria De Angelis, guitarist Thomas Raggi, and drummer Ethan Torchio. The band met in high school and made their breakthrough after coming second in the Italian X Factor back in 2017.

This month they won Festival di Sanremo with an impressive 53.5% of the vote in the superfinal, beating out still competition from two former Italian Eurovision representatives Francesca Michelin (2016) and Ermal Meta (2018).

Since their win, “Zitti e buoni has sold 35,000 copies across Italy, granting them Gold certification. Other Sanremo 2021 entries to reach this milestone were “Chiamami per nome” by Francesca Michielin and Fedez, “Voce” by Madame and “Musica leggerissima” by Colapesce and Dimartino.

As a member of the Big 5, Italy are automatically in the final on May 22nd. Italy will also vote in the first semifinal, on May 18th, along with Germany and host nation The Netherlands.
