Moldova to hold O melodie pentru Europa on 3rd March

Today, Moldovan broadcaster TRM has begun its search for its 2019 Eurovision Song Contest entry. The selection will culminate in the live final of O melodie pentru Europa on 3rd March.

Submissions close in mid-January

Firstly, interested artists can register their entry up until the deadline on January 18th. In order to apply, artists must provide their personal details and contact information, the copyright information for the song, the song lyrics (including a Romanian translation if the song is in English) and an MP3 file. In addition, applicants can supply a recording of their desired stage performance.

Full details of how to apply can be found on the official TRM website, in Romanian.

The return of the semi-final?

In addition to the final of O melodie pentru Europa on March 3rd, TRM has included a date for a semi-final on March 2nd. Nevertheless, in 2018, the semi-final was cancelled due to a low number of submissions. Therefore, we should consider the announcement of a semi-final as provisional.

A lucky day in Lisbon

In 2018, DoReDoS won O melodie pentru Europa thus earning the right to represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. The trio’s performance of My Lucky Day was widely considered as one of the highlights of the competition. Finishing in tenth place, DoReDoS amassed a total of 209 points. As a result, Moldova secured their second consecutive top ten finish at Eurovision, and their joint-third best result ever.

Ryan Cobb

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
