#3: Gina G – Ooh Aah… Just A Little Bit (UK 1996)

Grammy nominated for a reason. Outstanding song! To me this is the best song that the UK has sent to Eurovision. It is one of those songs that changed Eurovision forever and made it modern and exciting again, just as the contest was on its knees this came through reinvigorating it! Oh and by the way, thanks Australia for the singer!

#2: Charlotte Perrelli – Hero (Sweden 2008)

Oh I love Swedish Schlager and this is the best example of it! This was also the first song I ever streamed on Spotify and have probably streamed it about a million times since! The key change just tops off what is a glittery camp-fest. Absolutely adore this song and will never grow tired of listening to it. It perks my mood every time. It’s a brilliant song to play when you are feeling down.

#1: Ani Lorak – Shady Lady (Ukraine 2008)

Ukraine is my favourite nation in Eurovision and this is why. A brilliant example of Diva led Dance-Pop. From the light box to the Swarovsky dress to the choreography. Ani nails the vocal throughout and is on every single beat. Should have won 2008. This is perfection and I have nothing else to say about it!

Lisa Bird

My first Eurovision memory was watching 1994 as a hatchling. I've been tapping my talons to the bops and bangers from Europe and beyond ever since! I finally spread my wings to attending the contest in Lisbon 2018 and am now a regular at many events and national finals - especially my regular nest at Eesti Laul.
