RTVSLO reveal the Participants for EMA 2019

Slovenian broadcaster, RTVSLO, have this evening revealed the artists and song titles competing in next year’s national final.

Ten songs to compete in February final

The ten finalists were selected via an expert jury, from a total of 103 submitted entries. They are as follows:

  • Fed Horses – Ti ne poznaš konzev
  • Inmate – Atma
  • Kim – Rhythm back to me
  • Lumberjack – Lepote DNA
  • Okusticni – Metulji plešejo
  • Raiven – Kaos
  • Renata Mohorič – Three bridges
  • René – Ne poveš
  • Ula Ložar – Fridays
  • Zara Kralj & Gašper Šantl – Oprosti

The line up includes Slovenia’s first ever Junior Eurovision representative, Ula Lozar. Also present for a third stint is Raiven, who entered the selection in both 2016 & 2017 and this year, took on the role as EMA co-host.

Semi Finals axed for 21st edition

Next year’s edition of EMA will see the show reach its 21st year. RTVSLO have confirmed that the selection will be returning to a single show event. In another change, it was announced that the expert jury will solely decide the two super finalists, with the public vote deciding the winner.

Slovenia at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest

In Lisbon, it was Lea Sirk who flew the Slovenian flag with her song “Hvala Ne“. She performed in the second semi-final and successfully qualified for the grand final, ending a 2-year non-qualification streak for Slovenia. In the grand final, she finished 22nd with 64 points.
