Flying the flag to Tel Aviv! Virgin Atlantic to open up new Israel route. UK Eurovision fans will also have the chance to be on the inaugural flight in May.
Virgin Atlantic to establish new Tel Aviv route
After yesterday’s preview by host broadcaster KAN of the stage design for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Now is the perfect time for fans to start planning their May holidays! Especially with less than five months to go and the January sales to encourage a flight splurge with everyone’s Christmas bonuses. So with that in mind, British airline, Virgin Atlantic (VA) have decided to start taking flights between London-Tel Aviv.
Earlier this summer Shai Weiss became the first Israeli to run a major international airline, taking on the position of CEO at VA. Officially beginning his term in the New Year. Hence the need to establish direct flight links between London and Tel Aviv. Last month this began with talks between VA and Israel’s Airport Authority. Further details are to be finalised next week, as VA representatives visit Israel’s main Ben-Gurion Airport to inspect its facilities.
Could you be one of the lucky few on the inaugural Tel Aviv flight?
The company, founded by billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson in 1984, will not start operating the new route until September 2019. However as a special treat, the maiden flight will have a special Eurovision launch in May. As many as 258 UK fans will experience host city, Tel Aviv and Eurovision week, with return flights on an Airbus 330. The 2019 edition of the annual song contest will take place on 14th, 16th and 18th May.
