It has been reported that Israeli broadcaster KAN will not be discussing matters about Israel’s participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Poland until Spring 2019.
The news was revealed by KAN to fellow Eurovision news site, Eurovoix, stating that they won’t be considering whether or not Israel will return to the Junior Eurovision next year until the spring, at the earliest.
Spring is when the EBU send their formal invites to active members, inviting them to take part in the junior contest, and it is not until this point that KAN will review the proposal.
If KAN decided to take part in the 2019 contest, they would join the list of already confirmed countries – Armenia, Australia, France, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Poland and Russia.
Israel in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Israel has a rather short history at the Junior Eurovision. In fact, they only appeared at the contest three times, in 2012 in Amsterdam, in 2016 in Malta and in 2018 in Minsk.
So far, their best result is the 8th place with 68 points achieved in 2012 by Kids.il. 2016’s entrant Shir & Tim placed 15th with 27 points, and 2018’s entrant Noam Dadom placed 14th with 81 points.
