Semi-finals lineups revealed for Destination Eurovision 2019

Who can qualify to the final?

Destination Eurovision 2019 will see 18 entries compete in two semi-finals, for 8 slots in the final. France Télévisions has now revealed who will compete in each show!

Actually, France Télévisions (through social media, especially the Eurovision France Facebook page) only revealed the lineup for the first semi-final, which will be held live next week. Since there are only two semi-finals, it means the lineup for the next show was de facto revealed too.

In each semi-final, nine entries will compete for four slots in the final : artists will first sing a cover of another song (not necessarily Eurovision-related), then sing their own entry. The expert panel (Christophe Willem, Vitaa and André Manoukian) will comment each performance, but the voting will be split between the televote (50%) and five international jurors (50%), from different countries. No juror and no country will vote in both semi-finals, and those that voted in the semi-finals (juror and country) will not vote in the Final.

The lineups

Semi-final 1 – 12th January, 21:00 CET

An interesting “duel” in this semi-final : Alma (France 2017) and Madame Monsieur (France 2018) composed one entry each (“Le brasier” and “Roi” respectively), both in the same show.

Semi-final 2 – 19th January, 21:00 CET

This semi-final will seemingly be very heavy on instruments on stage (although it is not known if any will be played live) : Seemone with her piano, Gabriella with her violin, Ugo with his guitar, Noémie with her African drums. While there are no confirmations regarding the stagings of each entry yet, it seems likely those artists will bring their instruments on stage.
