Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2019 will take place on March 2nd. The venue will also be announced on the same day as the artist.

It’s still unclear how many songs the artist will perform in the final. Last year Saara Aalto performed three songs and the winning entry was chosen by the Finnish public together with the international juries.

Finland at Eurovision Song Contest

Finland changed their national selection format in 2012. Since then, the country has qualified to the final three times, in 2013, 2014 and most recently in 2018.

Their best result ever came with Lordi in 2006, when the country won the contest after taking part over 40 yers. The country has also finished last eight times.

Saara Aalto represented Finland last year in Lisbon with “Monsters”. She qualified to the final after placing 10th in the first semifinal and eventually finished 25th in the grand final.

Sami Luukela

I started watching Eurovision back in 2006, when I was only 10 and couldn't stay up to see Lordi winning. I attended my first contest in 2013 in Malmö. I'm studying journalism and I love music — you will probably never see me without my headphones on.
