People have been speculating if Aleksandr Panayotov is Russia’s choice for Eurovision 2019. Now the singer comments on the rumours on his Instagram saying “Every year the same old story”.
Why people think it’s Panayotov?
While it’s not the first time Aleksandr Panoytov has been rumoured to represent Russia in the contest, this year the speculation got even wilder after Philipp Kirkorov’s comment on Aleksandr’s Instagram photo last year.
Aleksandr captioned his photo on June saying “Sooner or later, I’ll smash those walls..” Philipp Kirkorov commented on the post saying “And we’ll do it together! And I even know where!”.
Before The Voice of Russia 2016 runner-up competed in Russia’s national selection in 2005, 2008 and 2010. In 2009 he also competed in Ukraine’s national final and finished second with “Superhero”.
“Every year the same old story”
Today Aleksandr posted a photo of the classic Willy Wonka meme on his Instagram story with the caption “So tell me how Panayotov is going to Eurovision 2019”. Under that he added “Every year the same old story”.
While Aleksandr is not denying anything, this suggests that once again the rumours are just rumours.
In December it was said that Russia’s artist announcement is not coming anytime soon. Towards the end of last year Philipp Kirkorov’s dream team, Dimitris Kontopoulos, Ilias Kokotos and Alex Panayi were working together in a studio in Moscow.
