🇨🇾 Eleni Foureira releases new single ‘Dokimase Me’

Are you ready to give Eleni Foureira a try?

Forget about those Black Friday sales. The best deal is always New Music Friday! After the release of ‘Light It Up‘ last month, we’re taking a dive into the 80s again. Now Cyprus’ 2018 Eurovision star Eleni Foureira drops her new single ‘Dokimase Me’.

Dokimase Me

Already in 2020 we have seen Eleni Foureira light up the Greek charts and our airwaves with ‘Temperatura‘, ‘YAYO‘ and most recently, ‘Light It Up’. Now it is the turn of ‘Dokimase Me’ or ‘Try Me’ in English. Again we are back in the 80s, with the signature gated reverb drum beats and Disco rhythm. The vibrant track takes us on a nostalgic journey of those days when throwing shapes on the dance floor was allowed. With a Greek twist, as Eleni sings of knowing the dance of love and asking her lover to give her a try. The song is written and produced by Marios Psimopoulos, Grandbois and Eleni Foureira. This retro flashback is part of Eleni’s upcoming ‘Light It Up’ EP. Where we can expect two more entries to complement the release.

Eleni Foureira in the Eurovision Song Contest

Before representing Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest, Eleni made several attempts to represent Greece. Firstly in 2010, where she participated in the Greek national final with Manos Pyrovolakis & Don’t Ask with ‘Kivotos tou Noe‘. Which resulted in a second place finish. Later in 2016 Eleni tried again, putting forward ‘Come Tiki Tam‘. Unfortunately Greek broadcaster ERT wanted a different direction for Greece at this time.

So ERT’s loss was Cypriot broadcaster RIK’s gain. For the 2018 contest Cyprus internally selected Eleni to represent them with the fiery banger ‘Fuego’. An instant hit with Eurovision fans and viewers, as she finished in second place. Thus achieving Cyprus’ best result to date. Following the contest ‘Fuego’ went on to become an international hit. Going on to reach platinum certification in Spain, as well as gold certification in Sweden and Norway.

Life after Eurovision…

Last year Eleni returned to the Eurovision stage in Tel Aviv. Where she took part in the Switch Song interval with Gali Atari, Måns Zelmerlöw, Conchita and Verka Serduchka. Her rendition of ‘Dancing Lasha Tumbai’ is one we won’t forget!

However a return as a competing artist seems as inevitable as Eleni releasing a club bop, with comeback rumours every year. Most recently a shock Spanish proposal for 2020 and a return for Cyprus in 2021. Will we see a return in the future? Watch this space!
