Saara Aalto finally made it to the Eurovision Song Contest stage last year, representing Finland in Lisbon. However, Saara has now revealed that there was an offer on the table to return to the contest again this year, representing the United Kingdom.
Saara to the BBC: “Not yet!”
Speaking to The Sun, as revealed by Tellymix, Saara revealed she declined an approach from the BBC to “do Eurovision” in Tel Aviv for the United Kingdom. The Monsters star also reiterated that she was also asked to represent the UK in Lisbon before eventually being internally selected for Finland.
“They asked me to do Eurovision for the UK again. It’s like, ‘Give me a break, not yet’. I have much bigger stuff this year.”
In the studio with Jonas Blue
Talking about her plans for 2019, Saara reveals she has been in the studio with DJ and producer Jonas Blue. Blue has scored a number of top 10 hits in the UK and beyond including Mama featuring William Singe, Rise featuring Jack & Jack, Perfect Stranger featuring JP Cooper and Fast Car featuring Dakota.
“I’ve recorded some stuff with Jonas Blue but you never know with these things.”
One of the Dancing on Ice front-runners!
Meanwhile, Saara is continuing her journey on ITV’s Dancing on Ice. After becoming the first act to sing whilst skating on Sunday, the Finnish star placed third on the leaderboard. She’ll be hoping to continue the momentum all the way until the final in a couple of months time!
