Camila Mendes covers Eurovision classic in US TV series Riverdale

Think back to 1973...

It’s always wonderful when a Eurovision song pops up right when you least expect it! That was certainly the case for followers of hit American TV series Riverdale which aired its most recent episode yesterday evening. But which Eurovision song featured?

Welcome home Archie!

One of the lead characters, Veronica Lodge, played by Camila Mendes, welcomed home her boyfriend Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) with a special party… and a special performance. And what song did she choose? Runner-up of the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest “Eres Tú”, originally performed by Mocedades!

One of Eurovision’s biggest success stories

Following its appearance at the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest, narrowly missing out on victory to Luxembourg’s Anne-Marie David, Eres Tú became a worldwide hit. It gained immense popularity in the United States, hitting the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100! In 2013, the track was inducted into the Latin Grammy Hall of Fame.
