Tel Aviv 2019

Darude to represent Finland in Tel Aviv!

After months of speculation, Finland’s national broadcaster Yle finally revealed their Eurovision 2019 representative today in a press conference. Darude will represent Finland in Tel Aviv!

Who is Darude?

For the second year in a row, Yle chose their artist internally. This time their pick is 43-year-old DJ Darude. His biggest hit is “Sandstorm” from 1999. The song peaked at number three on British singles charts and made it to the charts all around Europe.

His most recent singles include “Beautiful Alien” and “Timeless“.

The three songs will include vocals by 41-year-old Sebastian Rejman. He is the front man of the group The Giant Leap. They have worked before on songs “Moments” and “One Lifetime” on Darude’s latest album Moments.

Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2019

As in 2018 with Saara Aalto, Darude will perform three songs in the final of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu. The international jury and televoters will choose the winner on March 2nd. The songs will also be released one at a time in the next weeks. The songs will be released on February 8th, 15th and 22nd.

The final will be held in Turku, at Logomo and is hosted by Krista Siegfrids and Christoffer Strandberg. The tickets go on sale on February 1st.

I started watching Eurovision back in 2006, when I was only 10 and couldn't stay up to see Lordi winning. I attended my first contest in 2013 in Malmö. I'm studying journalism and I love music — you will probably never see me without my headphones on.
