Eleni Foureira, who represented Cyprus at last year’s Eurovision Song Contest, will appear at the final of Söngvakeppnin 2019. RUV have confirmed the singer will be the special guest at Iceland’s national final.
The final will be in Laugardagshöll on 2nd of March and broadcast by RUV, Iceland’s national broadcaster. Before that the semi finals will be held at Háskólabíó on the 9th and 16th of February. The competing songs and the lineup of each semi-final were recently announced earlier. Last year Eurovision stars Robin Bengtsson (Sweden 2017) and Emmelie de Forrest (Denmark 2013) appeared at the Söngvakeppnin final. In 2017 the guests were Eurovision winners Måns Zelmerlöw (Sweden 2015) and Alexander Rybak. (Norway 2009)
Eleni’s song ‘Fuego’ placed 2nd at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest and has become a fan favourite across Europe. ‘Fuego’ has enjoyed great popularity in Iceland and was the most played Eurovision song in Iceland last year.
