British singer, Daz Sampson, has confirmed to ESCXTRA that he is entering a song into the Belarusian national selection for Eurovision 2019. Daz is, of course, no stranger to Eurovision, previously taking part in the contest for the United Kingdom in 2006 with the song, “Teenage Life”.
“Kinky Boots” is Daz’s song for the national final!
UPDATE 01/02/2019 12:00 CET: Since we wrote this article, Daz has confirmed to ESCXTRA that “Kinky Boots” will be his entry for the Belarusian national final for Eurovision.
Yesterday, a new Daz Sampson song appeared on YouTube titled, “Kinky Boots”. It has now been confirmed that Kinky Boots will be Daz’s song for the Belarusian national final.
The song, which is a duet with British pop/dance artist, Nona, was released on YouTube yesterday with the title of the video and the description said that the song has been entered into the “Belarus Eurovision 2019 Pre-Selection”. Daz & Nona are currently working together in the dance act Uniting Nations.
The song has also been co-written by Daz himself, alongside John Matthews. John & Daz previously worked together on Daz’s 2006 Eurovision entry, “Teenage Life”, which finished in 19th place in Athens.
Speaking exclusively to ESCXTRA, Daz said that:
It’s no secret that I have been a huge fan of the contest and been very vocal about it in the past. Hence why myself and Nona are travelling all the way to Belarus to compete.Daz Sampson, speaking to ESCXTRA.com

Belarus in the Eurovision Song Contest
Belarus made their debut in the contest when the semi-finals were introduced in 2004. Aleksandra and Konstantin were the first act to represent Belarus, failing to qualify for the final with their song “My Galileo”.
Belarus didn’t make their first final until 2007 when Dmitry Koldun finished in 6th place in Helsinki with his entry, “Work Your Magic”. Belarus have qualified on four other occasions – in 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2017.
Alekseev failed to make the final for Belarus in 2018 with his song “Forever”, finishing in 16th place in the semi-final with 65 points. Will anyone do any better for Belarus in 2019?
Are you happy that Daz will be taking part in the selection? Do you like “Kinky Boots”? Is there any other artists you’d like to see take part?
