Title of Sanremo 2019 entry: “Nonno Hollywood” (Grandpa Hollywood)

Born in Livorno, in central Italy, in 1987 Stefano has been active in music since 2008. Passionate about Blues music, a passion he inherited from his father Stefano, he was hired by Sugar Music in 2008. That year, he released his first single “Addio”. In 2009 he participated to the talent show “Amici di Maria De Filippi” and in 2012 he signed to Universal Music. He made his Sanremo debut in 2015 in the newcomers section finishing third with “Qualcosa da Decidere”. The same year, he collaborated with Italian singer Gianna Nannini, opening a few of her shows. He participated to X Factor in 2017, finishing third overall, but his song “L’Amore è” obtained platinum certification. In 2018, he released “Nel Silenzio di Mille Parole” and also collaborated with Italian superstar Laura Pausini, writing songs for her and opening her big concert in Rome. He also published his third album “Cenerentola”.

Title of Sanremo 2019 entry: “Solo una canzone” (Only a song)

Ex-Otago is a 5-member Indie Pop music group formed in 2002 in Genoa. It is currently composed of Maurizio Carucci, Simone Bertuccini, Olmo Martellacci, Francesco Bacci and Rachid Bouchabla. They released their first album in 2003 called “The Chestnuts time”. Although only initially they only printed 500 copies, the album achieved success requiring the printing of more copies. In 2004, they signed with Riotmaker Records and then released the single “Giorni Vacanzieri”. Their second album came in 2007 called “Tanti Saluti” and it was well received. They released more singles in 2010 as well as the album “Marco Corre”. In 2014 came their fourth album “In Campo al Mondo”, together with a book called “Burrasca”. Their 2016 album “Marassi” peaked at number 22 in the charts and among the tracks feature collaboration with prominent musicians including Paparezza. They also collaborated with other established artists including Max Pezzali and Levante. A new album is on the way soon as well.
