A long awaited comeback with a very simple yet effective format. Croatia’s National Broadcaster, HRT, reveals details regarding the format of their selection, Dora 2019.
The long awaited comeback of one of Croatia’s most respected music competitions is taking the region by storm and prior to the show kicking off, HRT reveals a few changes when it comes to how the winner will be determined.
A simple overview
The new rules of Dora have been decided internally and they are going to start being applicable from this year onward.
The winner of the national selection will be determined through a 50:50 split between the jury and public vote.
However, in case the voting ends in a tie, the winner of the public vote will have the edge and be announced as the winner of the competition.
The Jury vote
The juries will be divided in nine regions all over Croatia. Each jury unit will consist of three music professionals or people in the industry. They will have the task to rank the sixteen acts accordingly (number one being their winner to sixteen being the least favorite).
Voting units:
- Čakovec i Varaždin
- Rijeka
- Pula
- Osijek
- Zadar
- Knin i Šibenik
- Split
- Dubrovnik
Their votes will be cast during the jury show which will take part the night before the general public will have their say, on February 15th.
After the votes from each juror from one unit get summarized, the ten best acts will get ranked accordingly. Awarding points from 1 for their tenth favorite to 12 for their favorite.
