Polish broadcaster TVP has selected the group Tulia as their representative in Eurovision Song Contest 2019. The song will be released later.
Who are Tulia?
Tulia is a four-piece group consisting Patrycja Nowicka, Dominika Siepka, Joanna Sinkiewicz and Tulia Biczak. In their music the group combine the classic white voice folk music with modern music production.
The group was formed in 2017 and they first gained popularity with their cover of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence”. The video was shared by the band and it has been already watched over three million times. Their other well-received covers include Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters“, with almost 5 million views on YouTube.
In 2018, the group won three awards at the oldest and most important Polish Song Festival in Opole. They also appeared on numerous summer festivals and played their first sold out tour. Tulia also received a platinum award for their debut album released late May 2018.
Poland in Eurovision
After choosing their Eurovision representative through national selection, Polish broadcaster TVP decided to choose their artist to Tel Aviv internally. The broadcaster took in submissions and artists all around the world sent their songs in.
Since their return to the contest in 2014, Poland has qualified to the final four times. Last year Gromee feat. Lukas Meijer failed to reach the final with their EDM song “Light Me Up”.
Poland will compete in the first semifinal of the contest in Tel Aviv, on May 16th.
