Tel Aviv 2019

Friðrik Ómar and Tara Mobee qualify for Söngvakeppnin 2019 final

Tonight the second semi-final of Söngvakeppnin 2019 took place in Háskólabíó in Reykjavik. As expected, tonight’s two direct qualifiers are Friðrik Ómar and Tara Mobee.

Friðrik Ómar performed his “Hvað ef ég get ekki elskað” from the last starting position, and Tara entered the stage as artist number four, with “Betri án þín”. In the final, they will both perform the English version of their songs; “What If I Can’t Have Love?” and “Fighting for Love”. If you want to know more about tonight’s qualifiers, check here.

As always, RÚV included in their rules that they could hand out a wild card to one of the six artists who didn’t qualify through the televoting. This year they decided that they wanted to use this opportunity, and gave the wild card to Kristina Skoubo Bærendsen.

This means that the Söngvakeppnin 2019 final will consist of these five songs;

  • Hatari – Hatrið mun sigra
  • Hera Björk – Moving On
  • Friðrik Ómar – What If I Can’t Have Love?
  • Tara Mobee – Fighting For Love
  • Kristina Skoubo Bærendsen – Mama Said

Last week’s qualifiers were Hatari, with “Hatrið mun sigra” and Hera Björk with “Eit andartak”.
