Spain: Fokas Evangelinos named as the artistic director for Miki’s performance

Will he help to bring the victory for Spain?

RTVE has chosen Fokas Evangelinos as Spain’s artistic director in Tel Aviv. Operación Triunfo vocal coach Mamen Márquez will be the musical director.

Fokas Evangelinos at Eurovision

Mesolongi-born Evangelinos started his career as choreographer in 1991 after first working as a dancer. His first Eurovision gig was with Sakis Rouvas in 2004. The next year he was again responsible for the staging of the Greek act, the victorious “My Number One” by Helena Paparizou.

He won the contest once again with Russia in 2008. His most memorable stagings include the ambitious stage show for Sergey Lazarev’s “You Are the Only One” in 2016.

In Tel Aviv he will be responsible for Miki’s performance. He said he is very happy to work with Spain for the first time.

I am very happy to be able to work with Spain at Eurovision 2019, Miki has a lot of talent and is a very smiling person.

Spain at Eurovision 2019

Spain was on of the first countries to choose their Eurovision representative for 2019. On January 20th, nine Operación Triunfo contestants competed for the right to represent Spain in Tel Aviv. Miki got 34 percent of the televote with the song “La venda”.

As one of the big 5 countries Spain will automatically qualify to the final of the contest. The final of Eurovision Song Contest 2019 takes place on May 18th.
