After two top ten finishes in Eurovision, Moldova are hoping that Anna Odobescu can extend that run to three, after she won “O melodie pentru Europa”, this evening. Anna will perform “Stay” in the second semi-final in Tel Aviv.
Moldova used the national final format O melodie pentru Europa to select their entry for Tel Aviv. They’ve used this national final to select their entry every year, with the exception of 2007 when they selected Natalia Barbu through a non-televised internal selection.
Ten songs competed in tonight’s national final. You can see the names of the ten songs and their final result below:
|1||Aurel Chirtoaca||La Cinema||3||1||4|
|5||Maxim Zavidia||I Will Not Surrender||5||12||17|
|10||Che-MD ft. Elisaveta Ivasiuk||Sub Pamant||1||4||5|
Moldova treated us to several interval acts tonight before the results including Christina Scarlet (who represented Moldova in 2014) performing Tina Turner’s “The Best” and Geta Burlacu (who represented Moldova in 2008) performing the classic song “Sway”. Romania’s hopeful for Tel Aviv, Ester Peony, also made an appearance tonight, performing her Eurovision entry, “On a Sunday”.
Moldova was set to have a semi-final tonight with a final tomorrow, however due to a lack of entries, the semi-final was cancelled and only a final was held. 28 entries took part in the audition stages of the national final with ten being selected for the televised final.
